| “Cooking is like love. It should be entered into with complete abandon or not at all.” Harriet Van Horne I love this quote. And it does indeed reflect my own philosophy on love and cooking. Although not yet having achieved complete abandon it’s with great enthusiasm that I wield knife, spoon and pot and wield them with love. I think that is the only reason one should hire me, or anyone, to cook for them. Yes, of course skill and experience are a must. For those who require proof you may be interested in my foray as the co-owner of a restaurant called Blue Gardenia, or might find it of merit that I’ve been in the food service industry since the age of 16. I’m much older than that now. But the reason I have experience at all is because I love cooking and, more specifically, the magnificent bounty that is food. I know that this passes into the food I prepare. Without it the taste is off. The food feels wrong in the gut and it leaves you feeling emotionally empty. This is why, I believe, we crave home cooked meals otherwise known as comfort food! I also understand the connection we have not only to each other but to the living organisms we put into our bodies for nourishment. It is my mission to always prepare food with the love, respect and gratitude that is warranted and gift these special meals to you. It is in turn a gift to myself.
